Completing the add printer wizard hangs up.

Completing the add printer wizard hangs up after adding a printer to the printer server. It happens with different printers models.

Please specify the server OS, and if that happen when the printer is connected or not? you may check to do the opposite and see the result. Is the USB port working with other devices?

ASKER

Win2003 Server, and it does not matter if the printer is on or off.
Try to disconnect(unplug the USB) cable and then add any printer
Then check the event viewer

I only deal with network printers. Local (USB) are not a problem.
If the network connection is good with other services then it is OS problem, check the event viewer and see what error messages it logs and post it; If the network is not stable then it may  the network card.

Please check the event viewer and see what error messages it logs and post it

ASKER

"Faulting application spoolsv.exe version 5.2.3790.3959, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x00010a5b"
Have no idea about that, but try to extract the file from OS CD, it might be corrupted or virus.
What is the Event ID: and Source for the event you listed above?

ASKER

100 and 1000
Assuming that the Source on these is Application Error, have you tried disabling DEP (Data Execution Protection)?
