I believe that I already know the answer to this question but I'm going to ask anyways.
I was (wrongly) directly purchase a RS-232 type Barcode scanner from unitech.  Somewhat familiar with what I now need in order to program against a barcode scanner we've decided to use the RS-232 interface and "leason" to COM port 1.  We tried USB interface without luck because the specific scanner I originally bought was a HID device which used Windows HID Keyboard Device driver.  After  much trial and error this I believe is impossible at the hardware level without putting focus on the textbox and/or application.  We cannot use this method.  I need a service to run the detects when the scanner reads a barcode.  With the scanner I know have I'm without the decoder to reader the TTL waveform.  Can this be done with software only.
