sent content length by apache

Hi: I have apache as webserver. I want apache server sends content length header to my proxy. Does that mean every jsp page I wrote has to have DocType. For example: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3c.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
