Word 2003 won't Save or Save As

Word 2003 won't Save or Save As on my account. There are 3 other users on the computer (my family) and each one's Word 2003 does save and save as. I have tried to uninstall Word 2003 using control settings and then repairing it from original CD, and when that didn't work, reinstalling it from original CD, and that didn't work. Micrrosoft Excel is not affected.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you updated Office to the latest service pack and fixes?
You can do it by going to here:

Click  'check for updates' in the top right and follow the instructions.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

That suggests two possible causes and remedies:

1. Corrupted normal.dot. Rename it or delete it, and see if the problem is
fixed. Location can be found in Tools - Options - File Locations - User
templates.

2. Corrupted registry entry, usually the Data key. If the preceding doesn't
fix the problem, rename or delete the Data key, which can be found here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\W ord

Note: edit the registry with caution.

If neither of those fix the problem, the usual 3rd source is a misfiring
add-in. Remove add-ins one at a time to see if the problem magically goes
away with one of them.
