How do I autoplay slides and set a delay between slides when a user opens my SWF file?

    did you try setInterval? see attached code

    In fName function move to next frame

    timingInterval is the delay... 1000 milliseconds = 1 second.
    run this code common to all frames.
    var timingInterval:Number = 250;           // in milliseconds
    function fName() {
        // actions to take
    intervalID = setInterval (fName, timingInterval);
