"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi and thanks.

The article you sent me will work for connecting to Windows shares not using NTLMV2 authentication.  My Windows computer use NTLMV2 authentication.  I still can't connect from my Ubuntu 8.4 to Vista shares or other Windows shares due to the fact that they all use NTLMv2 Authentication.  Do you know any Ubuntu or Linux tech support that I could call or pay so that I can get this issue answered.  I've even posted this question to the Ubuntu Forums.  no one seems to have the answer.

Thanks again!
you could try your local phone directory for a local expert.

alternatively you can try the following links for futher information. there are a few people with the same or similar issue:

the followinf will tell you how to connect samba to vista which uses NTLMV2 as default. (this shows howto for samba and nautilus)

hope this helps
