"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

;  I assume you want to use java via tomcat to send and recieve data to Flex and your logic/db  if your already using tomcat then I'd be lookign at blaze ds:  http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/blazeds/BlazeDS/

As for the java plugins.  Goto Help, software updates, manage and install and you can find all the java stuff for eclipse in there.

For configuring BlazeDS all you need to do is download Blaseds (either WAR or complete with Tomcat) all you need to do is to point this folder from flex builder wizard similar to LCDS wizard.

if you are downloading only WAR then drop it in to tomcat webapps folder and start the server and then from the flex builder point to this folder.
