Crystal Report Basic for visual studio vs Crystal Repor 2008

I have Visual Studio 2008 standard edition and I want to develop a VB application with a reporting features and I thought I can use the crystal report that suppose to be embedded with visual studio 2008 but I discovered that it's only come with Visual Studio 2008 professional edition.

now I am thinking whether I shall buy Visual Studio 2008 or I shall buy Crystal Report 2008 which will cost me around 400$, so can any body tell me which option I shall go for and what the advantage of each option and If i bought the Crystal Report 2008 shall I be able to use it with Visual Studio 2008 standard edition and whether I can use it to develop VB reporting applications.

The version of Crystal that comes with VS2008 pro is actually a version of CR10.

CR2008 is a totally new version is is actually CR12.

I don't know if CR2008 will work with VS2008 standard or not.  I don't know of a reason it wouldn't but MS may have some limitations on it.

The Crystal site is currently down so  I can't check.

You better go with the full version of CR you will have more features.
