are other users working fine?

do u wanna check if the SBS has installed any updates during that night?

Have you by any chance hit the 16Gb limit?

Is the mailbox store still mounted?
Acronis True Image 2019 just released!

Create a reliable backup. Make sure you always have dependable copies of your data so you can restore your entire system or individual files.

we only have 3 users in the office  using exchange and all the users have the issue...

i did check updates as one of the 1st things...the sbs server had , had no new patchs for 6 days before this happened

limts shouldn't be a issue ..but will check as i didn't think about that

also i ment to add...i have even tried to open up the the remote outlook web interface....but when i do open the page all i get is a HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable page
if all users are facing the issue then problem could be with the mailbox store.
try checking whether the mailbox store is mounted or dismounted.

u need to reinstall exchange m8, because it looks like some of the DLL files are corrupted, this is not gonna affect ur current Exchange Databses, but u can still do backup them. try this i am sure it will work.
ebecpcAuthor Commented:
can you tell me the best way of doing that as my exchange knowledge is a bit on the basic side
Hedley PhillipsOwnerCommented:
As already mentioned, have you checked to see if the Store is mounted?

Open up ESM and drill down to the server and see if it is mounted.
Abbas HaidarSenior Infrastructure ManagerCommented:
u just insert ur exchange CDs and run the installation, it is really easy and straight forward, and don't panic cause all ur data will stay. go to add remove programm and click change on the SBS installation, and then the wizard will run and u can just tick exchange and choose reinstall from the drop down menu. it will work like charm try it.

cheer's for the pic
i've just had a look and its not mounted for some reason..
so have just tried to remount it and rebooting the server now to see what happen's
ebecpcAuthor Commented:
have seen that the exchange has unmounted it's self again after the reboot
Hedley PhillipsOwnerCommented:
Ok, we can start to progress this now.

Please have a look at the Event Viewer logs and post any errors that you might see there pertaining to Exchange.

Have a look at your database sizes:

Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA

Once you have tried to remount the store, please provide us with any errors in the Event log. It may be that your stores are corrupt and you may need to repair the databases with the following: (but lets just see what errors you have first).

1. Eseutil /p "C:\program files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb"
2. Eseutil /d "C:\program files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb"
3. Isinteg -s SERVERNAME -fix -test alltests
what is the database size?
(total of priv1.edb+priv1.stm)
ebecpcAuthor Commented:
ok i've just had a look and have seen 2 new error's both about the exchange priv1.edb file and its  at its 16gb size limt and can't be started

and have just checked the files  and the the size's are :
  privt1.ebd  16,612.360 kb
  privta1.stm 165.896 kb

so i'd hopefully think that this is my issue  , whats the best way of resizing the files to see if that will solve it

What version of Exchange are you running as there are various ways to go about this from offline defrags to upgrading to a newer version which can give you up to 75Gbs.

But it all depends on what version you have.

ebecpcAuthor Commented:
the server's running  sbs 2003 sp2 with Exchange System Version: 6.5.7226.0  and is fully patched up
if you need more info please just say where you'd like me to look
Hedley PhillipsOwnerCommented:

As far as I can tell you are on Exchange 2003 SP1.

SP2 allows you to have a store up to 75GB in size (although when it installs it defaults to 18Gb, but that is easy to change).

Download the Service Pack from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/bb288486.aspx  and install.
