At the company I work for we fully archive a mailbox and then delete the mailbox but keep the old AD account, not sure why.  Now that we have moved over to the new Excahnge 2007 server I am not sure how you disconnect, and or delete, a mailbox from the AD account.  Can someone please tell me if it is possible and if so how.

You can use the Exchange Management Console for this, under Recipient Configuration right-click the mailbox, Disable is similar to Disconnect (remember you Mail-Enable a user in AD, so this is Mail-Disable) and Remove is mark for deletion.
