How to fix a m35chmn.exe error thats preventing me from accessing internet explorer

on a windows xp pro machine, I ran sdfix for my inlaws on their machine and when I rebooted, the malware was gone but I also got the error message m35chmn.exe when trying to access the internet and any other search engine.

michieis2--Do you mean m rchmn.exe?
This could be malware.  Scan with you antivirus and antispyware programs (using up to date reference definitions).
