wireless router dropping connection

I have a recently purchased wireless N router and have experienced the wireless signal dropping from time to time. I've talked to many others who say this a problem with all wireless routers, I have heard to update the firmware but still notice the router dropping signal after updating.  Any ideas on way to keep a strong signal or do these just go bad after a little while. Your thoughts would be very helpful

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Try other channels than what you are using at the moment. After some tests take the one that works best for you.
