Router slows my DSL connection

I'm comparing my internet connection speeds with and without the router (linksys rv042). Using BroadbandReport's speed test tool i find that my workstation (xp pro) connected directly (westtel dsl modem's ethernet plugged to my workstation) i'm hitting my ISP's advertised speed 1.5mg. When the dsl modem goes to the router the speed is 40% less.

So far, I've tried disabling the firewall both at the router and within Windows without making a difference. What's the next tweak to try?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
