sys is undefined

I am using a peice of javascript which has

ys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance()

I am getting the following error

Sys us undefined.

I am not sure what to do?

I might be wrong but isn't that part of the .NET framework and won't work in regular Javascript functions.

Ajax (Asynchronous JAvaScript and XML) is really only an enhancement in JavaScript that allows Web pages to be more interactive and behave like local applications. So again as this is a .Net feature, unless you are using .Net to interact with your Ajax calls, it cannot be used.
