Wyse Device Manager ( WDM ) Questions

I have a client that will be moving into mostly Wyse clients and was wondering what WDM could do for me. Many of the clients are the tiny Winterm OS clear/silver boxes to just run RDP, but they're beginning to purchase the WT9650XE devices from a refurbisher with XPe installed on them.

What exactly can WDM do?

Are there any suggestions/requirements for the machine it's installed onto?

What OS can it run on?

Can it be installed onto a Domain Controller or a Terminal Server? (the only two servers they have)

I've downloaded the latest version - 4.7. Will that work with all of the devices Wyse has created, including dumb / non XPe devices?

Hi!

WDM can really handle all the Wyse Clients(update, information collecting, Imaging (to and from clients) restart remote clients, updating firmware and software, Wake-on-Lan clients, shadow client console, discover new clients) and much more..
Quite powerfull app. Though kinda buggy... but, the free version (workgroup) can handle 750 clients in the database..
Older client needs to have a a agent installed, but with new wyse devices, this agent is factory installed.
Machine suggestions.. hmm.. no, not really.. works on any modern PC i guess though server is recomended.
OS: Think you have to have Server OS. I have the app installed on a Windows Server 2003 Standard. Works perfectly.
Wouldnt recomend installing on a DC, but my install is on the IT-departments Citrix Server. Works fine, thoug strange things happen when 2 users for example discover devices. So, it it a single user application. (though it works fine on TS)
Cannot really recall what version i'm using, but it handles all WYSE clients (We only use 3125SE and S30 windows CE based clients) works fine as long as the agent is installed on older clients.

What about the old 1200LE's with no Windows OS, just the Wyse software installed?

the WDM should be able to admin all Wyse clients, so 1200LE should be supported. Havent tested those though...
