Overlay Box (with darkened background)

I am trying to achieve exactly what is trying to be achieved here ( I think. However I dont want to use the huge 4000+ Javascript file (prototype.js) that is required.

I am trying to get (once a text link is clicked) to darken the screen and show a dialog box type screen as outlined in the above link.

Strangely when submitting this question how it looks below is what im trying to achieve ! but with a dark not light background cover.

    Looks great thanks, I think however as an adapter you should use Prototype.js.... however it appears to be optional to their own base code version. Thanks ! GISVPN
