Pervasive SQL 9.5 - Microkernal router configuration returns to defaults after changes made.

Pervasive.SQL 9.5 Installed on server running Windows Server 2003. As a remedy for microkernal, ntdbsmgr.exe, hogging memory resources, it has been recommended that I configure microkernal to not use local microkernal engine. However, each time I uncheck that function, and the return to the control center, it is checked again as if a default. In fact, it seems I cannot make any configuration changes that stick. Each time I return to the control center, it seems to have undone any changes that I made. I am logged in using the exact same domain admin ID that I used to install the engine. Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you did the change over a Terminal Server Session this will not work until you change the following registry key :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Pervasive Software | Utilities Interface | Settings | Restricted Access

Note: If the " Utilities Interface" key does not exist see "Creating the Registry Key" below.
The value name should appear as "Restricted Access on WTS Client'", with a default value of "1", which means "no access'.  Change the value to "0" and select OK.

If you can, change the registry key or change everything on the server console!

note : This is by design :)
