cannot delete partition

ok now that I got a external HDD i was able to do the ubuntu thing and get all my files off my HDD since the windows fatal crash, now when I try to delete the old partition to re install XP i can't :/    it goes to a blue screen and says the partition you selected cannot be deleted   aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa im so pissed

You can't use Ubuntu (gparted) or the XP install CD to remove the partition?  Have you tried to use other 3rd party utilities?

thank yoU!  I bought a new hard drive anyway to go to sata II instead of IDE the HDD was old but i like to fix problems myself
