Why are text options, bold, color, etc., suddenly unavailable in Contribute CS3?
Contribute CS3 will not display text options, bold, italicize, emphasis, color, which used to display in the top tool bar after choosing Edit Page.
Have been using Contribute versions since 2003 - first time this has happened. Configuration file has all "font" options set to "true" for users and administrator (that's me). I use DW mostly, but must keep ~100 pagemasters working.
IT is a separate department - does not communicate when servers are updated.
Apache server, Novell OS, Windows XP 2002 serv. pack 2 - need anything else?

Actually, I want to turn all the formatting options ON, not off. The text options WERE on, but are not now. I haven't changed anything, so my question is, "How come the options are UNavailable now when for the last 5 years they WERE available? Thanks.
Sorry, I misread the question. I thought you were one of the Contribute users, not the Contribute Admin.
Even though all the toolbars are gone, can you still apply formatting through keyboard shortcuts (Control-B for bold, etc)?

Okay.
It sounds like the connection XML has gotten screwed up/corrupted. You should try rebuilding it first from DW (turn off Contribute compatibility and then turn it back on) but if that doesn't work, you may need to get into the server and kill the _mm folder for that site and then rebuild from DW.

The DW rebuilding didn't seem to work. So I looked in the _mm folder and found several strange files; I backed the folder up, deleted the weird files, and put the main file back. My text options are now in the Contribute toolbar - Yayyy!; but the Administer websites windows seem to have changed. My new password doesn't seem to stick. Oh, well, guess I'll wait and see how many of my pagemasters cannot connect before I bother you again. :-)

It's possible for the Site Administrator to turn off all formatting options for Contribute users, essentially rendering them able to change the text but nothing else.
