Dropped iBook - Monitor Grey/White Only External Monitor Works

I need help fixing the display on my iBook G4 14" 1.42 GHz. The iBook fell off the couch to the floor, a distance of about 2.5 feet. The computer starts up just fine, but the iBook display just shows grey/white. I get full video using an external monitor and the iBook keyboard and track pad work fine according to the external monitor.

I disassemble the laptop and removed the case around the monitor. The hinge is broken on the right side, but there is no other obvious damage.

I am willing to replace whatever parts need replacing, but would like some ideas as to what should be replaced first. This iBook has the combined Airport /Bluetooth card.

Thanks for the help.

Thank you, I will try what you suggest and get back to the message board.
I reseated the connector to the LCD controller board behind the LCD screen, but the problem is not resolved. This afternoon I plugged in the video cable to the motherboard, so I did not redo it just now. Can the lcd controller be replaced separately from the lcd itself?

Thanks

Not likely as the small connections between the controller and the LCD are usually integrated in a mylex ribbon along the edges of the LCD. The LCD and controller are usually one part.
