Can't connect to Exchange over VPN connection
I just reimaged a laptop. I set up outlook on the LAN and it works connects fine. When I try to connect when connected to vpn i receive the above mentioned error message. I've mades sure firewall is off and have uninstalled antivirus and spyware apps...
Also application event log shows eventID 2002 LoadPerf - "MOF file created for outlook service could not be loaded..."

Have you tried using both the DNS entry for the server and the direct IP address?
seems like you have an offline folder set on the laptop, have you given it time to syncronise the data with the server before taking the laptop offline? and trying to use outlook offline let alone VPN.
if the user has a rather large mailbox, check the folder size and see what the difference in size is to the server, possible that is hasnt syncronised all of the folders/emails yet.

Ive tried setting up the account on the LAN (which works fine). And also on the VPN by IP and it resolves

Yes I let it fully sync before connecting to the VPN. I actually noticed the mailbox was was quite large and exported mail to .pst's

I finally got Outlook to launch but now status is Disconnected and if I hit F9 (Send/Receive) it errors out and says server is not available
