NOT Usable (Incompatible assignment method) - NOT Usable (Protocol not L2 connected)

I only get these messages when I have the bc config set to, "forwarding-type L2" Nothing works.
If it's set to "forwarding-type GRE", everything works great.

Everything is directly connected.

What hardware and IOS are you using?  It looks like sf2 is a 2801.

With IOS later than 12.4(20)T you should be able to use mask with L2 redirect and return on ISRs but it is possible that you are running into a bug.

According to Zach Seils (Cisco Technical Leader) the recommend WCCP config with ISRs is to stick with the defaults of hash and GRE.

Configuration Recommendations
The following best practices should be followed for implementing WCCP on a software-based platform:

GRE Forwarding (Default)
Hash Assignment (Default)
Inbound or Outbound Interception
"ip wccp redirect exclude in" on WCCP client interface (outbound interception only)
WAAS Egress Method: IP Forwarding, Negotiated Return, Generic GRE Return

Are you experiencing issues when using GRE?
