"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi ,
Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) offers two features that can save you time and peace of mind. 1.The first is a snapshotthink of it as a short-term backupof all the files on an NTFS volume. This snapshot, or shadow copy, lets your users restore files for themselvesfor example, if they accidentally delete a file or choose Save when they meant Save As. (VSS is not designed to replace your current backup strategy).
2. The second feature is VSS's ability to back up files that are currently open or locked by an application such as Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Exchange.

So you cannt access the VSS storage group and it cannt be moved to another location
