Hi dodyryda1,

As far as I can remember, the 2 certificates will not be the same although the name is the same. Try to import the new certificate into IE and see what happens.

Cheers.

how do i generate another certificate for the sever short name only?
JoWickermanCommented:
You can, but you could also use the newly generated certificate, import it and test.

sorry jowickerman think you misread. do you know how to generate a certificate to trust dns shortname . this used to work fine.
JoWickermanCommented:
Oh, sorry about that. You'll be able to do that using your certificate service. Not sure of the exact procedure, but if you follow the prompts, it'll work.
dodyryda1Author Commented:
think i might have resolved this, when re-installing certificates services I mistakingly used a random CA name ie. tesco CA for the common namerather than using the servers machine name. I am just re-installing certificate services now using the machine name as the common name to test.
