Screen Flicketing on Sony Laptop

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR21m When the laptop is turned on i get the screen flickering continually as if a loose connection or bad connection is taking place.  But usually with bad connections or faulty cables when the cable is moved you would generally expect the flickering to get better or worst, but in this case it doesn't seem to matter how i move or bend the cable the flickering will do it's own thing.

I can't even hook it up to an external monitor as this laptop doesn't have a VGA output at all.

Could it be the screen itself flickering, or is it more than likely to be a cable issue.

More likely to be a faulty screen, rather than connection to the screen. As you said, no difference in screen when it is moved.. more likely to be some form of power issue.

Warranty should have you covered on this, if not. Will probably be quite expensive.

Thanks, laptop is out of warranty which is why i need to make sure it is the screen; as you said it's going to be quite expensive to replace.
