Getting occasional FTP errors

I have an application set up on a server that utilizes FTP to send files to an outside site.  It goes through our network, through the internet, then through the remote site's network.  Ordinarily, we could send around 80 files a minute without experiencing any problem.  Every now and then, however, we could only send about 20 files a minute while we keep getting the error "12031 -- ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_RESET The connection with the server has been reset."  Also during this time, putfiles() API calls from our application were getting blocked (not returning any results)

Could this just be a hiccup within the network, or could there be some kind of firewall issue from our network or from the remote site's network that could be causing this?

Most likely just a hiccup somewhere in the network.  We do thousands of outbound ftp's a day and we get a few of these types of problems every day.  We just re-run the process and it typically works the second time.
