my music folder redirection

I am using folder redirection through group policy on this server to redirect the users my documents folders to the server (users home directory). I would like to exclude the my music folder from being copied to the server and leave it on the local machine. Is there anyway to do this?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes Eynn,

There is a way to do this:

There is a Group Policy "Admin assigned folders to be redirected"

Hope this works for you :)
Please let me know
Thanks

Can you tell me where to find this? I am currently using the policy under,
user config
windows settings
folder redirection
my documents

Is this a policy that is already in AD or something I need to download and install?

The only folders allowed to be redirected in Server 2003 are:
- Application Data
- Desktop
- Start Menu
- My Documents

When you redirect one of them it redirects all the folders underneath them.  There may be 3rd party tools but nothing else built into the system besides those listed above.

Sorry but the same goes for excluding folders too.

That's all I've seen too, so I'm interested in this  "Admin assigned folders to be redirected"
mentioned above. I'd like to know where to find or get it.

I just searched the Group Policy spreadsheet (can be downloaded here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2043B94E-66CD-4B91-9E0F-68363245C495&displaylang=en#filelist) and it doesn't list that anywhere.

Hi eynn,

it is located at Administrative tools > Network > Offline files

This isn't exactly what I was looking for. This option will make the files "available" off line, but I do not want to copy them to the server at all. The currenty policy is redirecting all of my documents to the server, but I need to leave the my music folder out of that.

Thanks.
