install quicktime 7.5.5 through GPO fails the MSI shows chinese as the language

I ran the quicktime.exe file and found the .msi package and tried to deploy it throgh GPO.  The install fails and the languauge shows up as chinese even though the install is the english version.  I put the check mark in to ignore the language and still the install fails.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

most likely setup.exe runs the msi with some command-line switches that set the language and other things. You probably can find that out if you run process monitor from sysinternals. To run the msi with these switches from group policy, you would need a transform. Besides, if the installation is made in installshield using what's called installscript (their proprietary scripting language within the installation), there's high probability that it will refuse to run without setup.exe.

Hi Tyler57,

I have just had to package this for rollout.  There is a very good guide on http://www.appdeploy.com which explains what you need to do to get it working.  http://www.appdeploy.com/packages/detail.asp?id=520   In short you will need to use MS Orca to create a transform file and then follow the guides for 7.4.1 written by widget and then 7.5 written by sabbat.  Hopefully this helps you.

Regards

John
