An error encountered with one or more users when retrieving the list of mailboxes.

Some background: When attempting to run Exmerge as Administrator I can see all the mailboxes fine in the final steps of Exmerge, however I'm unable to extra data most likely because group Administrators explicitily denied for Exchange.

I'm attempting to extract a PST file from the Exchange Database for one of the existing Mailboxes via Exmerge Two-Steps Procedure.  I have followed the steps outlined here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288446 followed by 2 extra steps to avoid being denied access as Administrator. Here are the 2 steps.

1. Adding Group Remote Desktop Users to the created user to alllow RDP to the server and Domain Users (is this explicitly denied by Exmerge?)
2. Giving full permissions on folder Exchsvr/bin where Exmerge is located to the user to allow run Exmerge.exe

An error encountered with one or more users when retrieving the list of mailboxes homed in the selected databases on server 'SERVER'. Please refer to the log file, 'Log file not initialized', for more information

After pressing OK another error in a pop-up.

Error encountered getting mailbox information from the private information store database(s) on server "SERVER". Make sure you have adequate permissions on the Information Store Object. Please refer to the "log file not inititalized' log file for more information.

There's a microsoft KB here on this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919088

However I'm inclined to think that the cause of my issue is different  since I'm able to view all mailboxes just fine via administrator account.

What can I do about my 2 errors?would MS kb 919088 progress my case? Thank you.

the best thing to do is to create a separate account with the admin privileges required. That's what I always do.

links looks what I need however Im stumped by a step called "Setting the appropriate Rights". How am I supposed to uncheck the Deny on Receive As and Send as permissions?

You have to create a new account, and give that the permissions as needed. It was showing a picture of the screen you need to be on, but that you can't remove the permissions on the default account.

1. I create user named test in the AD
2. User test is given Domain Users group and Remote Desktop Users group
3. User test is added to security tab of MailBox Store (Exchange) with full allow rights

When I enter my domain info and server in Exmerge I receive a pop up:

error getting list of private information store databased on server

Seems like Im missing some rights

MS KB's way is with creating a group and giving that group the right. Why would that make a difference?

you have to make it an Exchange Admin. This is done in ESM.
