dat72 tape drive wont accept cleaning tape

we have a dell powervault 100t dat 72 tape drive wont accept cleaning tape and we got a maxell  dds cleaning cartridge which is supposed to be compatible with dat72 tape drives, but everytime we put it in the drive it spits it back out again.

    the way it is supposed to work is that when loading a cleaning tape the is loaded into the drive, advanced a pre-set amount and then eject the tape from the drive.

    When a cleaning tape is used up the same thing happens, it is just the tape is ejected quicker.

    so it is correct that the cleaning tape is automatically ejected.
    If it is being ejected right away then try a new cleaning tape.
    If a new cleaning tape has been used then it is time to ck with Dell support.

    If it's spitting out the tape immediately, the drive may not need cleaning. Most modern drives will not run a cleaning cycle if it's not needed, because it needlessly wears the heads.
