How and what type of rights you need to use the Exmerge utility on Exchange 03?

I am trying to restore a mail box from back up.  I have done most of the part.  Now when I run the exmerge utility, it is not going thru. I checked the properties of myself and administrator, both of the accounts has DENY for Receive as and Send as boxes, and they are grayed out.  I created a global security group, created a user added the user to global group, gave all the rights, still I am having the same issue.  Any help is very much appreciated.

Below KB helps you....

How to configure an account to use the ExMerge utility in Exchange 2000 Server and in Exchange Server 2003

* Also that the "Domain Admins" and "Enterprise Admins" have got default DENY access to "Send As" and "Recieve As" permissions.

* So make sure that the account that you are a using to do the Exmerge is not a member of the above groups.

* Or else you could explicitly remove the DENY permissions from both the groups if you need to be the member of them

* And the below link might be helpful to grant yourself rights at the organizational level

Amit's Answer was right to the point.  Rudram's answer was very helpful, learned a registry hack, and used it too.  But I haven't tried to run the exmerge yet.  I will be doing it after hours today.  I think the problem solved though.  Thanks very much.

* Check the account that you are using is not a member of any group (either Domain Admins or Enterprise Admins or any other group that may have a deny permission)

* Else try using a new user account that would not be a member of any groups (just the default Domain Users) and then grant it permissions accordingly and try Exmerge

Good Luck (^_^)
