You may want to create a shortcut for your remote desktop connection to connect to the console and thus preserving the open applications when disconnected. You can also close the connection manually without logging off and when reconnecting everything is still available.

    Here is what I use:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\mstsc.exe /v: /console /f

Be sure to change the IP address to your server IP. The other thing you can do is to open up the Terminal Services Manager and re-connect to the lost connection by right clicking on the lost connection and selecting connect.

    Hope that Helps!

When exiting the session are you just closing the window or logging off? If logging off data will be lost. If closing the remote window without logging off session should be maintained.

i am not closing or loging of i have mentioned above that its because of internet disconnection.
When internet disconnected RDC gave error and exit. At this point i want my session to retain running on server as session remains on server when we close rdc window
