Media Usage in Autoloader - yet another slot usage and media usage question

using Backup Exec 12D with an HP autoloader. It uses 7 tapes. I put all 7 tapes into scratch media and it uses each one and puts them in the targeted media group that I called "current media group''. Once the 7 tapes run out in scratch media, it begins to use the tapes that are in the "current media group" in an unpredictable rotation. For that matter, the order that it's using the tapes in Scratch Media seems to have no Ryhme or rythm either.

It took the media out of the Scratch Media in this order: (Date, Barcode, Slot#)

11/3 4939 5
11/4 4932 4
11/5 4938 7
11/6 4930 1
11/7 4931 2
11/8 4937 3
11/9 4934 6

at this point the Scratch Media is empty and has used all seven tapes in the autoloader, no it follows as this:

11/10 4939 5
11/11 4937 3
11/12 4934 6
11/13 4934 6

Why did it choose this order for the tapes, first of all? And why has it used the same tape yesterday ANd today?

All tapes get overwritten.

Any more information anyone needs please ask.

Thanks.

Can you please post the overwrite and append protection that you have set on the media set called: "current media group" so we can get an idea of what this media set does.

Thanks.

Overwrite is 0 hours. My thinking there was that I want them to rotate. Do I want to set that to 6 days so it will take the oldest one if there are 7?

Append is set to "infinite - allow append"
Yes.

We use one tape a day for a month then repeat. Our Overwrite protection period is set to 27 days and append is 0 hours (although we never append a job).

So if you set your tapes to be 6 days, and run one job a day. In 6 days time the earliest tape will come out of protection and be ready to be used.
Does that mean you have an autoloader with 27 tapes or you change the autoloader out?
