Intermittent Blackberry connection to Exchange 2003 server

I have one user that connects to my Exchange Server with a Blackberry. Just about every morning lately, the Blackberry stops receiving mail. About the only thing that seems to help is to restart firewall, but I doubt that is the problem.

What should I check/test to see if a BB is connecting?

I have heard that installing Blackberry Lite server app on Exchange server will help this, what all is involved in that?

I believe BlackBerry Professional is what you are referring to... 

As for your issue, I assume that your user is connecting via a BIS client through your mobile phone carrier? You might want to contact them for troubleshooting. Their servers connect to your mail server and pull the data... it is very odd that resetting the firewall helps though...

It is my theory that by resetting the firewall and cutting off the connection between my Exchange server and BB server, it wakes their machine up and it reconnects.
