Crystal Reports Viewer

When resizing the Crystal Reports Viewer window (e.g. maximising) or selecting Zoom on the Crystal Reports Viewer toolbar the report is very slow to refresh/repaint and is painful to watch.

If the report is run on a local PC (all components on PC) all is well but when it is run on a server via Remote Desktop (all components on server) the problem occurs.  Is this a known problem and is there a cure?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is everything the same between the computers, i.e. all updates to framework, same version of vb, same web.config, assemblies?  That's where I would start...

PC is windows XP, server is Windows Server 2003.  Not a Web server so web config doesn't apply.  Same version/patch level of VB.  The only noticeable difference is memory - server has 512MB, PC has 1.49GB - would this really make that much difference?  The report is text-only with just a few lines.
i would think that with only 512MB, that could cause a big difference...what else is the server used for?

Can you add any memory somehow from another server and see if there is a performance jump?  i honestly think there will be...
also, you could look at your code and dispose and get rid objects that aren't needed as soon as they aren't needed to help clear up space...that's assuming you're using CR with VB/
