I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can join the server to the domain if Exchange has been moved by the other guy.

You only need to dcpromo it, if you want to make it a DC, not for Exchange.

All you need to do to remove Exchange 2007 from a server is to go to Add/Remove Programs, select Exchange 2007 and click Remove.
It will bring a new wizard named Exchange Maintainence mode. Click Next. Uncheck the roles you want to delete and complete the wizard.

That's it.

The operation failed because:

Active Directory Domain Services could not replicate the directory partition CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=diobr,DC=local from the remote Active Directory Domain Controller diobr-dc01.diobr.local.

"The remote procedure call was cancelled."
