I am not familiar with  the DOS registry however if you are referring to an XP a registry cleaner I have been using CCleaner for the past three years on both my XP machines and Vista machines and I am very happy with it. It is very intuitive and allows you to customize what it cleans. You can also set it up to run automatically every time you start the machine. Just create a shortcut in the Start menu that invokes CCleaner with the /AUTO command-line switch.

    C:\Program Files\CCleaner\ccleaner.exe /AUTO
