how to install install citrix xenapp5 on a new windows 2003 server

I am setting up a new Windows 2003 server that needs to run XenApp5.  I downloaded and installed xenserver-5.0.0-install-cd.iso.  Now the server is booting to what looks like a linux console.  It's not a big deal to get to where I started, I just nned to know exactly what do I need to install to get a XenApp5 server installed on a Windows 2003 server.  THis IS NOT an upgrade.  Thanks

I'm pretty sure that's where your problems is.  You've downloaded and installed a copy of XenServer 5.0 instead of XenApp 5.0.

XenServer is a Virtualization Specialized Linux Kernel that is supported by Citrix and is pretty robust.  It's the equivalent of VMWare or Hyper-V and is it's own operating system.

If you're wanting to have a physical server that is only running Windows 2003 w/XenApp 5.0 on top of it, you'll need to go back to scratch, rebuild the server with Windows 2003, download XenApp-5.0.0-install-cd.iso off of and then install XenApp on top of Windows 2003.

So now you know how I picked my screen name.  Thanks, I had gotten the wrong install.

No worries Dr. Cat!  There's a lot of confusion about "what is what" after Citrix's marketing Dept. relabeled everything...  Hope the rebuild goes well.... (plus you've got some experience on installing XenServer for your resume :)
