Outlook and Express deleting messages from server

Simple, maybe dumb, question.  In Outlook and in Outlook Express (two machines) I have, on the Advanced tab, under Delivery, checked Keep messages on server, and also checked to delete after 10 days.  Here's the dumb question/assumption.  This means I hope that messages will be deleted from the server 10 days after being retrieved, not 10 days from the date the message comes into the server.  Right?  I wouldn't want messages I'd never seen being wiped off the server just because I hadn't checked my mail for a couple of weeks.   Thanks, Ron Hicks, Arlington, Virginia.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It is indeed my understanding that the setting you mention deletes messages ten days after the messages are received by the client, not the server, which is your desired behavior.
