I'm working on Sql 2000 reporting services
Users are trying to issue some reports,
even when they try to choose the parameters they noticed that refreshing of other parameters is slow
Is there a maintenance plan or clean up  to apply on the reporting services

    Accepted Solution

You'll have to look if there aren't to many unused reports in your reporting-database (\\NameServer\reports) . And clean it out when possible.

You also can use sql*profiler to see what is slow. Could be your reporting database itself (an index or statistics could be needed). But when mentioning 'parameters' it also could be the collecting of the list off diferent parameters out of your database that can be slow ... also that query can be monitored in Sql*profiler. But when the list is long (10000 customernames....) it's probably the rendering that could be consuming.

Look if the CPU/memory/disks are sufficiently for the things you still want to do with your ever growing databases.
