Interbase 7 SYSDBA Password Retrieval

We have Interbase 7.1 installed on our server and need to retrieve, but not change, the SYSDBA password.  Unfortuantely, there's software installed on the server that uses the current SYSDBA password and we're not able to edit the value of the password it's using.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'm afraid it is not possible, because passwords are stored in security database only as hash, MD5 if I remember corectly.

If anyone knows the actual encryption algorithm for the hash, I might be able to just brute force it.  Is it actually MD5?

Any other way to retrieve this password?  The database is set up as a ColdFusion DSN also, if that helps.
