Can I control the size of the Image rendered in a ButtonField Image on a GridView?

I have several buttonfields of type Image on a GridView.  The images are all 16x16 but are being rendered larger.  I'm guessing almost 3x size within the browser.

Can I control how this is being rendered?  Do I need to use CSS?
