How do I set up mail to route from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2000

We have an Exchange 2000 Organization where we just introduced an Exchange 2007 Hub Transport server.  We deleted the routing group connector which was automatically created during the Exchange 2007 install and manually created a new one.

Users on Exchange 2000 can send email to mailboxes on Exchange 2007, however, Exchange 2007 users cannot send to Exchange 2000?
