Access denied while opening msc snappin

my user id is domain admin and a member of local administrator group in XP machine. The XP machine is a domain member.when i login to the dc with the same user ID , i'm able to do all the administration work.i have installed the admin pack and GPMC in my Xp client.when i open the dsa.msc or any .msc console in xp machine with the same id it gives access Denied.
I created a MMC and add all the snapins there and save it to the desktop, when i try to open that console, it gives access denied error.

I right click the console, click run as and clear the protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity, then the console open.

Could you please help me with the appropriate solutions.

Disconnecting then reconnecting the computer to the domain will probably resolve this issue.
Has this worked for you successfully on other computers?
If not then look at the event viewer for any events having to do with domain permissions.

It sounds like the extension .msc isn't associated with mmc.exe

Try re-associating them by doing the following:

Navigate to a .msc file such as dsa.msc which should be located at "c:\windows\system32\dsa.msc"
Right click and select properties of the .msc file and if you notice that its set to open with "Unknown application" change it  to open with Microsoft Management Console, by clicking  "Change..." (next to "Opens with"), then "Browse..." and navigate to "c:\windows\system32\mmc.exe". Click "Open", hit "OK", and then close the Properties dialog. After that, the .msc applications should work properly.
