Recently, I connected my CPU directly to the power without connecting via a UPS. From then on every time I hibernate, the computer restarts. Any ideas how to solve this?

It sound like a problem with a power extender or electrical outlet. Try to connect to another outlet / change extender. If problem persist you probably should call a qualified electrical worker  to check out the electricity in your house.
disable the "wake on PME"(Power management event) option in the BIOS. It could solve your problem
