I can not squeeze flash: directory from Boot loader to load new IOS image by "xmodem" Flash directory is still full

I am upgrading a Cisco 3550 switch. At first I deleted my old image then try to load a new image from my TFTP server from my PC.

But I got error in TFTP server and then lost the connectivity from my Cisco 3550 XL. When I rebooted the Switch I got "Switch:" prompt, which is from boot loader, since I don't have any valid IOS image to boot.

Then I tried to load my new image using "xmodem" command and got failed due to unavailable space in the flash drive. As I deleted my old files and again tried to delete few other unnecessary files still I don't have enough space is Flash drive.

I need to free my flash drive to load new image. Need your expert help to resolve this issue.

Oh, lol, I see your problem.  You are trying to copy a 3550 image onto a 3500XL switch.  Download the correct image for the 3500XL and it should only be under 2MB.
You only have 4MB of Flash.  How big is the image you are trying to copy?

c3550-i9k2l2q3-mz.121-22.EA5a --- 4.2 MB

c3550-i5q3l2-mz.121-12c.EA1 -- 3.8 MB

But from the output  of Flash Directory

2579456 bytes available (1033216 bytes used) --- this used 1033216 bytes should be free as well.

How can I accommodate my new IOS image in it.
Delete the html directory and see how much that frees up.  The html directory is not needed.

Are you just trying to copy the BIN file or are you trying to copy the .tar file?  You should only be copying the .bin file.
