Tcl/Tk Pros and Cons

We are considering using Tcl/Tk for some cross platform scripting.  We will start using it with Windows then LINUX.  I have searched Google to get a sense of its scope and possibilities.

If you have or are currently using Tcl/Tk:

1. What have you found to be the Pros and Cons?
2. What suggestions can you make in getting up-to-speed and implementing it?

Note: If you have not used Tcl/Tk please spare us posting an URL with a Google search string.  This seems to be a trend.  I am posting this because I am looking for comments from actual Tcl/Tk users.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Tk was probably one of the first successful cross-platform UI toolkits. It has to fill multiple deficiencies at the time, so it has consistent internally but different from native UI look and feel.
OTOH it's very powerful and excellent for making straightforward form-based UI. It has unique text and graphic widgets to make UI programming really simple.
