Windows Briefcase is not automatic (at least not so far as I know). I have long used XP Briefcase and am now using Vista Briefcase. If your files are supported by offline files, consider using it. Offline files can synchronize automatically at logon or log off.

I like the Briefcase approach and my database files are not supported by Offline Files, so I stick with Briefcase, but what you want is better suited to Offline Files. ... T

If I have Windows XP, am I able to use Vista Briefcase?  And if so, how do I do that?

    Accepted Solution

No. Briefcase is a function of the OS. I was not meaning to imply Vista Briefcase does what you want. Offline Files is a completely different function and further, Offline Files is implemented differently in XP than in Vista. Still Offline files (as implemented in XP) address what you are looking for (so long as it synchronizes the files you are using).   ... T

Sorry, I'm a bit slow.  Is Offline Files a program, a Windows XP Pro feature, or what?  How do I use it?
