creating a Report Custom Function

When ever I create a new Report Custom Function I get an error "A ( is expected here."  An example of a function would be:

Function Test
  Test = "Function Name"
End Function

So do you have OTHER functions that are working or is this the first time you are trying to create a Custom Function?

In other words do you have other Custom Functions that you have created that DO work?

There are other functions that were created by the previous Report writer.  I have even tried to copy one of those functions and I get the same error.

Try it as

Function Test( )
   Test = "A"
End Function

I get the same result.  "A ( is expected here."  The area that is highlighted is the word "Test" on the first line.

Just tried creating one.

You apparently have CRYSTAL SYNTAX selected in the dropdown near the middle top of the formula editor.

Crystal Syntax is

Function Test( )
   "A"

Thank you very much.  As soon as I change the language to basic the problem was fixed.  Thanks again!
