Add a counter through incomings Emails

we get Emails from peoples, which arrives in a exchange postbox and
immediately are forwarded by an Outlook Rule (server based) over a (active directory-) contact
to an external service provider.

The service provider told me that not every email arrives in there linux based email system.
I wish to see which one was not clearly sent.

My question is:
Is it possible to continously count incoming emails and attach the number to the email (e.g. body or subject).
So i can call our service provider and ask him if all messages from 1 to 200 have arrived.

Is that possible ?

So the messages leaves the comapny again.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
